What is Check Mates about?

Felix, a young boy with ADHD, finds school challenging and his grades are slipping. When his mum suggests he spend time with his grandfather, Felix is reluctant. Granddad, still grieving the loss of Grandma, insists on teaching Felix chess, a game he finds dull. However, through these lessons, Felix discovers unexpected life lessons and realises there's more to play for than he ever imagined.
