In 1918, during World War I, a group of American soldiers is trapped behind enemy lines in Flanders. Facing fire from both German forces and their own side, their only hope is to send a message using a homing pigeon. With other pigeons shot down, their last chance is Cher Ami, a black pigeon who bravely flies 25 miles through heavy gunfire, despite being wounded, to deliver the message that saves 194 lives.
