When Tom is sent to stay with his aunt and uncle, he expects a dull summer. However, when the old grandfather clock strikes thirteen, he discovers a magical garden and befriends Hatty, a girl from another time. Each night, they embark on adventures together, with Hatty growing older during each visit. As summer ends, Tom faces the challenge of leaving the midnight garden and his newfound friend behind.
