What is Hansel and Gretel about?

Hansel and Gretel, siblings from a poor family, are abandoned in the forest by their parents. They discover a house made of sweets, inhabited by a wicked witch who plans to eat them. Using their wits, they outsmart the witch, escape, and return home with treasures, reuniting with their father and living happily ever after.
