Ernő Rubik loved colours, shapes and puzzles from an early age. Born in Hungary in 1944, he studied architecture and became a teacher, encouraging his students to explore how things move and change. In 1974, he created a twisting cube to help explain three-dimensional design. Solving it was difficult, but the puzzle soon captured imaginations around the world. This illustrated biography follows Rubik’s journey from curious child to ingenious inventor, celebrating creativity, patience and the power of a small idea.
