A farmer grows a turnip so enormous that he cannot pull it from the ground. He tugs and tugs, but the stubborn vegetable will not budge. One by one, the farmer calls for help from his family and animals. They all join the pulling, forming a long, determined line. Will their combined strength finally free the giant turnip? This lively retelling of a traditional fairy tale uses rhythmic language, gentle humour and repetition to make it fun to read aloud together.
