What is The Writing Contest about?
Emma loves writing, so she is certain she will win her school’s writing contest. When the results are announced, however, Emma is disappointed to come second. Her friend Izzie has a surprise of her own: she has come third, and is delighted. Together, the girls decide to celebrate their achievements. Emma must learn that losing does not mean she should give up something she enjoys. This accessible early chapter book also introduces readers to deafness, sign language and fingerspelling.
