What is The Happy Prince A Tale by Oscar Wilde about?
A swallow, separated from his flock, stops beside a statue known as the Happy Prince. From high above the town, the Prince sees hungry families, lonely children and people in need. He asks the swallow to remove his ruby, sapphires and golden covering and deliver them to the poor. As winter deepens, the swallow grows weak and the statue loses its beauty. Their sacrifice is finally recognised, revealing that true kindness is more precious than wealth or appearances.
