During the Second World War, twelve-year-old Edie is sent to Three Chimneys to stay with her aunt Roberta while her mother flies planes for the Air Transport Auxiliary. At first, Edie feels frightened and alone, but she soon befriends fellow evacuees Greta and Gus. Together, they explore the village, discover the joys of their new home and uncover clues to a troubling mystery. Yet someone is hiding a secret, and the children must find the courage to reveal the truth.
