What is Alone about?
Twelve-year-old Maddie wakes to discover that everyone has vanished from her Colorado town. With no electricity, phone service or internet, she must learn to survive with only George, a Rottweiler, and the books around her. As the months pass, Maddie faces wild animals, looters, natural disasters and the painful loneliness of being completely alone. Told in gripping verse, this is a story of courage, ingenuity and determination as Maddie searches for answers—and finds strength within herself.
