Peggy Parish was a much-loved American children’s author who enjoyed making young readers laugh. She first worked as a teacher, which helped her understand what children like to read. Her best-known books feature Amelia Bedelia, a cheerful character who takes words and instructions very literally, creating lots of funny mix-ups. Peggy wrote many stories, using simple language, playful ideas and plenty of humour. Her books continue to inspire children to enjoy reading and discovering the fun of words.
