Vixie the fox cub feels safe and happy when she is with her dad, Rey. So when Rey has to go away for a while, Vixie worries that she cannot bear being apart from him. Rey gives her a kingfisher feather to remind her that their love keeps them connected, even when they are far away. As Vixie carries on and finds ways to feel brave, she discovers that missing someone is hard—but it won’t be forever. Soon, her dad comes home.
