Crossfire the little dragon is worried when his mum starts a new job and cannot sing him his bedtime puff-a-bye. His dad is busy, and Puffing Billy is far too noisy, so a new nanny called Smokescreen comes to help. At first, she does everything differently from Mum, leaving Crossfire feeling cross and unsettled. But as they spend time together, he discovers that Smokescreen has her own special ways of making bedtime fun, and that change can bring happy surprises.
About the author
Charlotte Hudson is a children’s author who loves creating lively stories for young readers. Before becoming a full-time writer, she taught in primary schools and travelled to Africa, where she spent three years teaching in Zambia. Her books include Monkey Words, Who Will Sing My Puff-a-Bye? and Dan and Diesel, filled with imagination, warmth and fun.
