What is Boudica about?
Boudica was a fierce queen of the Iceni tribe who led a huge revolt against Roman rule in Britain nearly 2,000 years ago. After suffering terrible treatment from the Romans, she united rival tribes and attacked important Roman settlements, including Camulodunum, Londinium and Verulamium. Her army won several astonishing victories, but the Romans eventually defeated her forces. This lively introduction explores Boudica’s life, the Celtic and Roman worlds, and the evidence left by ancient writers.
