By Jo Allan
Hettie’s shaggy coat becomes a surprising wildlife shelter—but how will she reclaim it?

What is Hairy Hettie about?
Hettie the Highland cow has thick, shaggy hair to keep her warm through the Scottish seasons. But soon her coat becomes a home for two nesting blackbirds, hungry caterpillars, a sleepy squirrel and even a mountain hare. Hettie is certainly cosy—but she is not a hedge, a hotel or a wildlife shelter! As more visitors settle in, Hettie decides that something must be done. Perhaps the time has finally come for the hairiest Highland cow to have a haircut.
