What is Call me Alastair about?

Alastair is an African grey parrot born in a pet shop, where he dreams of open skies and a life of freedom with his sister, Aggie. When Aggie is bought by Fritz, a kind-hearted twelve-year-old, Alastair is adopted by the eccentric Mrs Plopky. Lonely and determined to be reunited with Aggie, he begins plotting an escape. Along the way, Alastair discovers friendship, family and his own poetic voice, learning that freedom may mean accepting life’s unexpected changes.
