Ella and her mum are happy in their flat, but everything changes when Mum’s partner, Joe, comes to live with them. Soon they are moving to a bigger house, and Ella is cross about leaving her home and sharing Mum’s attention. Joe tries hard to make friends, but Ella refuses to join in. Then, during the move, Ella’s favourite doll, Mollie, is carried away by a dog. When Joe bravely rescues Mollie, Ella begins to see him differently.
