What is Somebody to love: the story of Valerie June's sweet little baby banjolele about?
Young Valerie receives a tiny banjolele called Baby, but the unusual instrument cannot seem to finish a song. At school, the other instruments laugh and say Baby is only a toy. Shy and discouraged, Valerie and Baby nearly give up. Then Baby remembers its dream to sing, finds its courage and lets its joyful voice ring out. Inspired by Valerie June’s own musical journey, this warm picture book celebrates friendship, perseverance and believing in your own unique sound.
