What is The Wigglesbottom Primary series by Pamela Butchart about?
Launched in 2014/2015 and continuing through 2026, Pamela Butchart’s Wigglesbottom Primary follows the pupils of class 2F through a succession of gloriously chaotic school days. Each book contains three short, illustrated stories, moving from rumours of ghosts and mysterious pool creatures to magical pets, unusual classroom visitors, sports-day mishaps and increasingly outlandish animal adventures. The familiar school setting, recurring pupils and escalating absurdity make the series an accessible bridge from picture books to chapter books. It should appeal especially to newly independent readers aged around 5–7 who enjoy humour, friendship, school-life silliness and imaginative misunderstandings. Mild spooky moments, comic peril and toilet humour may surprise sensitive readers.
