What is The King Rollo series by David Mckee about?

Created by David McKee, King Rollo began in 1979, with most of the series appearing during the 1980s and later seasonal stories extending into 2001. Rollo is a childlike, bearded king whose everyday problems include new shoes, meals, baths, birthdays, play and getting along with friends. The early small-format adventures gradually expand into collections, seasonal tales and Christmas stories, featuring Queen Gwen, Cook, the Magician, King Frank and Hamlet the cat. With clear illustrations, simple text and gentle humour, the series may appeal to pre-schoolers and newly independent readers. David McKee was a brilliant British author and illustrator, best known for creating the colourful Elmer the Patchwork Elephant stories.
