First published in 2013, The Sweet Fairies is a seven-book strand of Daisy Meadows’ Rainbow Magic series, written under a collective pseudonym. Best friends Rachel and Kirsty are drawn into Fairyland, where Jack Frost has stolen the magical charms that help sweets and treats taste delicious. Each book follows a new adventure with a different fairy, from Lottie the Lollipop Fairy to Nina the Birthday Cake Fairy, as the girls work through the growing crisis. With linked stories, familiar heroines and plenty of sugary magic, the series should appeal to children aged around six to eight who enjoy friendship, fairies and gentle fantasy. There is mild peril and comic villainy, but no graphic violence.
