What is The Corgi Pups series by Rob Childs about?

Written and published between 1998 and 2005, Rob Childs’s Corgi Pups stories follow young footballers and their friends through lively school and community sporting adventures. The series progresses from forming a village team and tackling fundraising challenges to matches, records, songs, sports days and rounders games, with familiar characters returning across several books. Short chapters, straightforward language and plenty of action make these books suitable for newly independent readers, especially children who enjoy football, teamwork and competition. Mild sporting tension, disappointment and worries about school closure appear, but nothing is especially frightening.
