What is The Jake Cake series by Michael Broad about?

Written between 2007 and 2008, the Jake Cake series follows an ordinary schoolboy whose notebooks record extraordinary adventures that nobody quite believes. Each book contains three short, illustrated stories, blending familiar school and family life with werewolves, robots, dragons, vampires, pirates and other magical mayhem. The series grows from Jake’s early monster encounters to increasingly wild supernatural exploits. Ideal for readers aged seven and over, especially children who enjoy humorous, fast-paced stories with cartoon-style illustrations. Some episodes include mildly spooky creatures, ghosts and peril, but the tone remains comic rather than frightening.
