When the Gaulish bard Cacofonix's off-key singing causes rain, it's a nuisance at home but a blessing in the drought-stricken kingdom of Rajah Watzit. The evil guru Hoodunnit plans to sacrifice Princess Orinjade to end the drought. Flown in on the fakir Watziznehm's magic carpet, Asterix, Obelix, and Cacofonix embark on a thrilling adventure to save the princess.
