What is Pigeon Post about?

The Swallows and Amazons are reunited with Dick and Dorothea for an exciting summer expedition into the hills above the lake. Their mission is to discover a lost gold mine, but prospecting is far from easy. Dry weather makes the countryside dangerously vulnerable to fire, while abandoned tunnels threaten to collapse around them. Then a mysterious stranger known as Squashy Hat appears. Is he another prospector, or a spy trying to steal their secret? The children must work together to outwit him.
