What is Grey Island, Red Boat about?

On the gloomy Island of Ashes, everything is grey and Princess Opal longs for change. Then Wendell arrives in a bright red boat, bringing a strange gift: everything he touches bursts into colour. The islanders are delighted, but Opal’s suspicious father, the King, fears Wendell’s power and locks him away. Determined to help, Opal risks the King’s anger and sets out to free Wendell. Together, they discover that love, courage and hope can transform even the dullest world.

About the author

Ian Beck is a much-loved British author and illustrator. He is best known for illustrating the classic book 'The Owl and the Pussycat' and writing the popular 'Tom Trueheart' adventure stories. Ian’s wonderful drawings and imaginative tales have delighted children for many years. He enjoys creating magical worlds with words and pictures.
