What is Poems Out Loud! First Poems to Read and Perform about?

A lively collection of contemporary poems for young children, covering everything from rockets and space to pirates, mermaids, animals and everyday feelings. The poems are playful, rhythmic and varied, inviting children to read quietly, share them with others or perform them aloud with expression. Featuring established poets, new voices, hip-hop artists and spoken-word performers, the anthology is brought to life by Laurie Stansfield’s energetic illustrations. An accompanying audio CD lets children hear several poems performed by the poets themselves.
