What is Kintana and the Captain's Curse about?

Kintana has grown up hearing tales of the sea from her pa, a former pirate who now runs a pet shop. When the tall ship Nine Sails arrives at Pirate Island, she joins its crew as a cabin boy, caring for a collection of unusual animals. But the voyage to Madagascar soon takes a dangerous turn. Strange events, hidden clues and rumours of a captain’s curse suggest that someone is searching for buried treasure — and Kintana must uncover the truth.
