What is Windhover about?
High on a school building, a kestrel chick hatches in a nest shared with its brothers and sisters. One day, a lonely boy named Dan takes the chick and keeps it in a cage. Away from its family, the frightened bird grows weak and refuses to eat. When Dan learns that the kestrel may die, he must choose between keeping his new treasure and doing what is right. With help from another child, he sets the bird free and discovers the beginnings of friendship.
