Synopsis

Hippo was always hot and longed to cool off in the river. He begged Ngai, the god of Everything and Everywhere, to let him live in the water. Ngai agreed, but only if Hippo promised not to eat the little fishes and to come out at night to eat grass. This delightful tale explains how Hippo came to live in the river instead of on dry land.
