Written between 2011 and 2015, Alex T. Smith’s Claude series follows a small dog with an extraordinary talent for finding adventure. Accompanied by his sock friend, Sir Bobblysock, Claude travels from holidays and beaches to circuses, snowy mountains, cities and theatres, turning everyday outings into comic escapades. With short chapters, lively two-colour illustrations and surreal humour, the books suit children aged around 6–9, especially those moving from picture books to independent reading. Expect slapstick peril, mild suspense and occasional toilet humour.
