What is The Mr Pattacake series by Stephanie Baudet about?
Written and published across the 2010s, Stephanie Baudet’s ten-book Mr Pattacake series follows a good-hearted, eccentric chef and his hungry ginger cat, Treacle. Each story begins with a new cooking job, then tumbles into comic chaos: parties, pirates, space travel, medieval feasts, circus escapades, snowy mysteries and more. As the series progresses, their culinary missions become increasingly far-flung while teamwork remains central. Best suited to children aged five and over, especially newly independent readers, the books contain mild peril, slapstick mishaps and occasional disgusting food jokes.
