In 1944 Nazi-occupied France, 13-year-old orphan Lucas DuBois, nicknamed 'Petit éclair' for his timid nature, rescues a litter of kittens and hides them in an abandoned stable. There, he meets Alice, a British horse trainer's daughter, concealing her filly from German soldiers. As Lucas uncovers the village's hidden acts of resistance, he must decide how much he's willing to risk to protect those he cares about.
