Synopsis

Eleven-year-old December believes she is destined to become a bird, with the scar on her back marking where her wings will emerge. Carrying her mother's bird guide and a photo inscribed with 'In flight is where you'll find me,' she awaits the day she can fly away to reunite with her mother. Placed with new foster mother Eleanor, who runs a taxidermy business and volunteers at a wildlife rescue, December begins to reconsider her understanding of home and belonging.
