Synopsis

Young Michael cherishes his visits to Mrs Pettigrew, who lives peacefully in a railway carriage on the marshes with her animals. When plans emerge to build a nuclear power station on the marshes, the village becomes divided. Michael is drawn into the struggle to protect the landscape and Mrs Pettigrew's way of life, learning that change is inevitable.

Michael often writes about animals and adventures, inspiring children to imagine exciting worlds and discover the magic of stories.
