What is Ice Lolly about?

When twelve-year-old Laurel loses her mum, she is sent to live with relatives she barely knows. Lonely and angry, she decides to become Ice Lolly, a girl with a heart too frozen to hurt. Her new home has little space for the things she loves, including books and Mr Pooter, her beloved marmalade-coloured cat. Then a kind friendship and a mysterious letter begin to melt Laurel’s defences, offering hope, family and a chance to find her way home.

Schools use Pageticker to replace paper reading diaries, catalogue and track library books, run reading challenges and help children explore the world of books. It's proven to improve reading engagement, as well as significantly reducing teacher workload. Visit our For Schools page to learn more.

Yes, the Pageticker app is completely free and you are welcome to join thousands of families using it today to inspire their children to love reading. If you are a school, we charge for the teacher dashboard - this costs between £149 and £449 per year.
