When Sandy finds a stray dog called Perronet, he and his brothers and sisters are determined to keep him safe. But a dog licence costs money, and their family cannot spare it. During a summer holiday, the children discover a secret field where they play, explore and collect treasures from nature. Soon they devise a clever plan involving flowers, teamwork and a little good fortune. Can their adventures raise enough money to keep Perronet as part of the family?
