When Russian-speaking Ivan joins St Edmund's School, Boris is assigned to translate for him. However, Ivan's uncivilised behaviour, including greeting classmates as 'lowly shivering worms' and seeking words like 'crush' and 'mutilate', makes Boris's task challenging. As the day unfolds, Boris realises that managing Ivan's antics will be more difficult than anticipated.
