Rory Sparkes dreams of adventure, imagining himself as a circus strongman or a cowboy. When the circus arrives in town, his life takes an unexpected turn. Rory and his best friend, Guy, embark on a plan to earn money for a model boat, leading them to odd jobs for the mysterious Madame Lowe. Meanwhile, Rory's sister, Clare, plots a prank, and an elephant named Donna causes chaos at school.
