When his family agrees to hide escaped Allied prisoners, Paolo and his sister Constanza are drawn into a daring plan involving secret journeys, watchful soldiers and narrow escapes. As the risks grow, the siblings must find courage, outwit the enemy and discover how ordinary people can become heroes.
About the author
Shirley Hughes was a much-loved British author and illustrator, famous for her beautiful picture books. She created the popular Alfie series, which follows the adventures of a little boy and his family. Shirley's warm stories and gentle drawings have made her books favourites for children and families all around the UK.
