Thomas has an important job: he must collect the Christmas tree for the party at Tidmouth Station. But on the way home, a fierce blizzard sweeps across the railway and leaves Thomas stuck in a deep snowdrift, with the tree beside him. As the engines wait for their celebration to begin, they realise Thomas needs help. Soon, a determined rescue party sets out through the snow.
