What is The Hidden Staircase about?
At Penhallow Hall, Polly and Rex discover Skip, a toy dog that has come to life—but he refuses to wake properly. Polly learns that Skip belonged to two children evacuated to the hall during the Second World War, and that he has been waiting for them ever since. Meanwhile, Polly’s new schoolfriend Lucy is acting strangely. When Lucy disappears after school, Polly follows a clue to where she may be hiding and turns to Skip for help.
