As World War II looms, Miriam is puzzled by her mother's sudden stockpiling of food and the new nickname 'Mandy' her parents insist on using. Her friend Pam explains that, as a Jewish girl, Miriam could be in danger if the Nazis invade. But surely that won't happen, will it?
