Synopsis
In 1650, dodos Bertie and Beatrice live peacefully on an Indian Ocean island. Their tranquillity is shattered when sailors arrive, craving dodo meat, and bring along hungry rats that feast on dodo eggs. As the couple prepares to start a family, Sir Francis Drake, the captain's parrot, warns them of the looming threat of extinction. Can Bertie and Beatrice outwit these dangers to save their species?
About the author
Dick King-Smith was a much-loved British author who wrote over 100 books for children, often about animals and farms. His most famous story is 'The Sheep-Pig', which inspired the popular film 'Babe'. Dick loved spending time with animals and used his real-life experiences to create his wonderful, imaginative stories.
