Thomas is a cheeky little engine who wants to prove that he can be useful. When James has an accident and needs rescuing, Thomas is sent out with the breakdown train. He hurries to the scene, helping the workmen clear the line and bring James safely home. Thomas’s bravery and hard work impress the Fat Controller, who rewards him with an exciting new job on his own branch line. This lively railway adventure is accompanied by photographs from the television series.

Wilbert V. Awdry was a British author who loved telling stories about friendly trains. He is best known for creating Thomas the Tank Engine and his friends on the Island of Sodor. His imaginative tales have delighted children for generations, making train adventures exciting and full of fun lessons about friendship and kindness.
