In 1792, Cat Royal and her friend Pedro sail from London to Jamaica with a travelling theatre company. Their performances soon lead them into danger when Pedro’s former owner reappears and Cat is kidnapped. Surrounded by pirates, plantation owners and the brutal realities of slavery, Cat must find the courage to escape. As Pedro becomes involved in a rebellion for freedom, Cat faces difficult choices about loyalty, justice and the price of liberty.
